Yes, the greatest sales lesson is success is a process. Most people fail in sales is because they didn't do enough which means that they didn't do what it takes to create the sales.
Here's a good example that gives you a clearer picture of what is expected in the real world. With the latest technology, it is about 10% success rate for the oil drilling industry which means they have to drill nine empty oil wells before they find the oil well that has oil! If you are a real estate agent, you have to show your house to five or ten customers before you are able to sell the house! It has been proven and tested that most of the sales were made on the seventh call but most sales people give up before the fifth call!
Here's another good example, for the plane to take off the runway, it had to go on full throttle and used up lots of fuel before it can achieve lift off! Many people are not willing to put in enough effort to get the results they wanted, their dreams are still on the runway!
You must be willing to do whatever it takes ethically to achieve your dreams and usually you need to commit massive effort at the beginning.
You must dig your well well! Many people dig their well half way and as you can see so much time and effort is wasted when a job is half done! Why do people give up half way? For various reasons and those reasons could be these: they were not trained well enough to understand the expectation and realities of the business, they do not have the patience and persistence, they do not have a burning desire or they simply give up on their dreams!
Have you ever witnessed a marathon at the starting line, there could be four thousands people there but at the finishing line, there could be only about four hundred on ten percent finishing it, why? Most people are not serious about finishing the marathon and they are there to have fun or encourage the other serious marathoners or they only plan to run a quarter or half of the way!
It goes back to your intention and belief. What do you really want to achieve and do you believe you can do it?
In network marketing we have many people joining the business for the wrong reasons, many thought that they can do little and expect the others to do the work, the lazy-man-way to riches! There were a lot of misrepresentation and misconception! Clarity leads to power, if you are not clear about how the business work, chances are you will fail! Many fail because they join the wrong companies with poor management or wasn't train to do the business the right way.
Let's assume you were fortunate to join the right company with the right training, there is still the human factor which is do you have a burning desire and are you willing to dig your well well! You still have to go through the process of experiencing rejection on the opportunity or your products and that is life! If you look at any business, they are not targeting hundred percent! If a restaurant can capture 20 to 30% of the people walking by their restaurant, the owner will be very happy! Most of their business depends on referral, word-of-mouth - the most effective form of advertising! It's insane to expect everyone that pass by the restaurant to go in and have a meal!
That is the nature of the business, you have to qualify, present, close and follow up and if you do it well even those who say "No" to what you are offering them will want to give you referrals to people who may want what you are offering!
A master salesperson will build relationship and their approach is to share their story and offer a solution! And he understands that not everyone wants what he has to offer because it depends on timing, situation and the person's needs. In network marketing, not everyone wants to do the business seriously, in fact over 97% just want to be a smart consumers or do the business on a part-time basis.
So the great lesson here is not only you have to do but to do it long and hard enough to get the results you want!
